Scientific Illustration

Do you need a picture of a complicated behavioral task for a paper or presentation? Or maybe you’ve been asked to submit a cover design for a journal? There’s a lot of tools available to help scientists make figures these days, but sometimes you really just need someone to draw something custom for you – I can be that someone!

I have a PhD in neuroscience from UCSF, so I have the scientific background to understand your experiment and how to communicate it. I’m familiar with a variety of digital illustration programs, and I genuinely really like drawing rodents. Below you can see some of the science-related things I’ve drawn. You might also want to check out my other illustrations (to see what I can do with color and lines) or my paintings (for evidence that I can draw hands).

This illustration was used for the t-shirts at the UCSF Neuroscience Program (virtual) retreat in 2020

If you’re interested in hiring me to draw something for you, you can send an email to hello at katederosier dot com. Please include a brief summary of what you’re looking for– what do you need illustrated? Is it for a paper, poster, presentation, or something else? When do you need it? – and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible about whether your project fits in my schedule and what it would cost.
